Orange Charging Dalfsen

Orange Charging is expanding its network with a new site in Dalfsen. Here too, grid congestion plays a role. That called for a smart way to work with the capacity available.

The site has a standard grid connection, while the ambition was significant: to enable fast charging for both passenger cars and trucks, without compromising reliability or room for growth.

The brief

The central question was clear. How do you deliver a fully fledged fast-charging hub with a limited grid connection? The solution needed to be reliable, scalable, and suitable for sites where a grid upgrade is not an option.

Orange Charging Dalfsen’s key objectives:

  • Enable fast charging within a standard grid connection
  • Use available capacity intelligently through software and storage
  • Deliver a future-ready charging solution without depending on grid expansion

The approach

For the Dalfsen site, we delivered a charging hub built around smart control and battery storage. At the centre is a battery system that acts as a power buffer alongside the existing grid connection.

Combined with an Energy Management System, the available capacity is continuously optimised. The system automatically aligns charging, discharging, and grid use. This makes it possible to deploy a fast charger despite the standard grid connection, without overloading the grid.

Results

Thanks to this solution, Orange Charging Dalfsen now has a fully fledged fast-charging hub without depending on grid expansion.

The system makes it possible to:

  • Deliver fast charging for passenger cars and trucks within minimal grid capacity
  • Make optimal use of battery storage and smart energy management
  • Apply a scalable solution at other sites affected by grid congestion
