The brief
Buromac is one of Europe’s leading producers of seasonal and occasion-based printed materials. Its production processes require large amounts of energy — and that energy must above all be reliable and cost-efficient.
With a large solar installation in place, Buromac already generates a significant amount of renewable energy. However, solar production does not always align with the moments when the printing presses and production lines require power most.
The challenge was therefore clear: how can Buromac maximise self-consumption of solar energy while intelligently monetising surplus energy through energy trading?

The approach
We started with a detailed analysis of Buromac’s energy consumption, solar production and opportunities within the energy market. Through a comprehensive energy scan, we mapped consumption patterns, peak demand moments and solar generation profiles in detail. We also looked ahead: how would the energy requirements evolve as demand grows or market conditions change?
Based on these insights, we implemented a modular battery storage solution. Thanks to its scalable design, Buromac can tailor storage capacity to current requirements while retaining the flexibility to expand in the future.
The battery system stores excess solar energy whenever it becomes available. Buromac can then either use that energy later during production peaks or sell it back to the market when energy prices are favourable.
This creates flexibility between self-consumption and energy trading — without adding complexity. Buromac maximises the value of its solar energy while maintaining full control over its energy strategy.
